Happy Diwali, Mansi!! I was drawn to your beautiful story. It lit my heart up —especially with Thanksgiving only a few weeks away when our families will be spread throughout the country and world celebrating their own new traditions. Thank you for sharing your passion, talent and love for embracing traditions and explaining what they mean to you.

May the divine light of Diwali fill your life with prosperity, peace and good health. May the festival of lights fill your life with the sparkle, joy and happiness!

Many thanks, Diane. You know, I’ve been thinking about how we wait for birthdays or holidays to celebrate, but really, waking up each morning is pretty amazing…especially in the context of living in a post-Covid world! Sure, we don't throw confetti every time we make a good cup of coffee or high-five someone for catching the bus on time, but maybe we should appreciate these little things a lot more. At the end of the day, just being here and getting to experience another sunset or share a joke with someone – that's something worth smiling about. Perhaps, that’s the legacy we leave behind…that’s what we teach, what we pass on to… to celebrate the little moments, to honor the small acts of kindness, to appreciate the non-tangibles that make us feel whole. 🥰

Hello Mansi. Thank you for your words. I could not agree more.

Though our boys are grown adults and live across the country, I am fortunate ss a result of a personal journey I began this past January to find nuggets of joy every day no matter what else might be going on. Sometimes I stop and throw invisible confetti up into the sky! ;) I also find IMMENSE joy in spreading joy and loving kindness every day to people I know and don’t know. It might be a tiny kind gesture or maybe something a little grander. Now that I have discovered and enjoy practicing mindful meditation, I am also learning to celebrate me and my personal growth and achievements no matter how small they might be. Patting ourselves on the back feels pretty good no matter how silly that might seem. On that note, I also allow myself to look back to when we were raising our boys under challenging circumstances. I’m reminded of moments when I felt so proud of how I handled myself in a given situation. If I remember moments that I would do differently today, I don’t beat myself up because I’m perfectly imperfect. Instead I celebrate being able to acknowledge those times and then remind myself I did the best I could have at that time and was still able to raise two fabulous boys who I could not be more proud of.

This was a good reminder for me! Thank you. There is joy all around us with and without maintaining family or cultural traditions during holidays. 💫

Thank you, Jan. There are a lot of religious interpretations of the festival but also many other reasons to celebrate the Festival of Lights, the changing of seasons, the spirit of humankind 🥰
